Volunteer Abroad For
Families, Couples & Adults
Volunteer abroad with greater comfort, privacy and personalised support.
Horizon Impact Travel helps families, couples and adults aged 30+ compare and book volunteer programs operated by carefully selected local program partners. Unlike many volunteer organisations that focus on students and backpackers, we specialise in volunteer travel with private accommodation, personalised guidance and programs suited to mature travellers and families.
Horizon Impact Travel is different.
Most volunteer organisations were built for students, backpackers and gap-year travellers. If you're travelling as a couple, a family or simply prefer greater comfort and privacy, that model often isn't the right fit.
We understand that volunteering abroad as a family, couple, or as an adult over 30 needs a different approach.
We focus on programs with private accommodation, local support and a more comfortable overall experience.
Why Travellers Choose Horizon Impact Travel
Private Accommodation Included
Many volunteer organisations use shared dormitory accommodation. With us, private accommodation is included, giving you your own space to relax and recharge.
Designed for Adults, Couples & Families
The volunteer programs we feature are particularly well suited to adults aged 30+, couples, families, professionals, retirees, and mature solo travellers.
Carefully Selected Volunteer Projects
We focus on volunteer projects where international volunteers can contribute in a practical, clearly defined role, with on-the-ground local support that is suitable for adult travellers, couples and families.
Personalised Support
We help you compare destinations, understand accommodation and project options that are right for you and your family, and prepare before you travel.

Meet Kurt Decorte
Founder of Horizon Impact Travel
Before creating Horizon Impact Travel, I spent more than 20 years working in travel and lived extensively in Asia.
During that time, I spoke with many adults, couples and families who wanted to volunteer abroad but couldn't find experiences that matched how they preferred to travel. Most organisations were geared towards students and backpackers, while travellers looking for greater comfort and privacy had far fewer options.
Today, Horizon Impact Travel helps travellers compare and book volunteer programs operated by carefully selected local program partners. My role is to provide honest advice, personalised guidance and help you choose a program that's the right fit for your travel style and goals.

Who Our Volunteer Programs Are For
Horizon Impact Travel is aimed at travellers who want a structured volunteer experience without shared dorms, backpacker-style group travel or very basic accommodation.
It is particularly suitable for families, couples and 30+ adults, and retirees looking for a more comfortable way to volunteer abroad including luxury family volunteer vacations.
Families
Volunteer together while staying in accommodation better suited to parents travelling with children.
Couples
Combine meaningful volunteering with time to explore your destination together while enjoying greater privacy.
Adults Aged 30+
Designed for travellers who want a more comfortable alternative to backpacker-style volunteering.
Retirees
Stay active, contribute your skills and experience local communities at a comfortable pace.
Horizon may not be the right choice if you're looking for the cheapest volunteer placement, shared dormitory accommodation or a backpacker-style social experience.
